Northamptonshire sign seam bowling all-rounder Brett Hutton

Brett Hutton has signed a three-year deal with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club that will start next year.

Yorkshire-born Hutton joins Northamptonshire from Nottinghamshire, where he has spent the entirety of his career, having made his championship debut in 2013.

The right-arm seamer represented the England U19s in the 2012 World Cup in Australia where he took 5 wickets in 4 games.  He went on to play 17 matches during his time with the England U19s, taking 20 wickets in total.

Hutton has been very successful with the red ball this season, taking 37 wickets in 9 appearances for Nottinghamshire, finishing as the Club’s leading wicket-taker during the 2017 Specsavers County Championship. Despite having limited opportunities with the white ball at Notts, he hopes to contribute in all three formats for Northamptonshire next season, with the hope of bringing more success to the club.

Commenting on his move, Brett said: “I want to thank Notts for everything they’ve done for me. My time there has made me the cricketer I am now and I’m very grateful for that, but I’m really excited about the new opportunities and challenges playing for Northants will bring”.

The 24-year-old's arrival will no doubt bolster Northamptonshire’s bowling attack, bringing in some additional quality and depth to our seam bowling unit.

Northamptonshire’s head coach, David Ripley added: "We are delighted to welcome Brett to the club. I’ve been particularly impressed with his desire to improve and seek more opportunity away from what is obviously a very fine club in Notts.

“He will bring quality and competition to what is already a fine group of seam bowlers.”
