We are delighted to announce that Rob Newton has signed an extension of his contract with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. The 26 year old has played in ten county championship matches this season, scoring an impressive 810 runs at an average of 50.62.

David Murphy has extended his contract with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club for a further year. The wicketkeeper has had a very respectable season, taking 33 catches in 11 county championships matches this season and has chipped in with some runs down the order – 335 to be exact.

Two of England’s newest recruits have been shortlisted by their peers for the headline honours at the NatWest PCA Awards. Northamptonshire’s very own Ben Duckett has been nominated for the NatWest Players’ Player of the Year and joins Lancashire’s 19-year-old batsman Haseeb Hameed in the category for the NatWest Young Player of the Year.

Ben Sanderson took a career-best 8 for 73 as Northamptonshire ended their 2016 season with a 114-run win over Gloucestershire at Wantage Road. Needing to bat out the final day with eight-wickets in hand, George Hankins made a maiden first-class century but Sanderson saw Northants to a fourth win in their final six games taking four wickets with the second new ball.
