Academy recruit Saif Zaib, has signed his first professional contract with Northamptonshire which will see him remain at the club until the end of 2018.

After joining the Academy in 2013, the youngster made his List A debut against New Zealand on July 31st 2014 aged just 15. He went on to register his maiden first class half century against Sussex in 2016 and took exceptional bowling figures of 6-115 against Loughborough during a pre-season friendly earlier this year.

Northamptonshire’s Head Coach, David Ripley, said: “It’s great news to have Saif Zaib sign his first professional contract, he has already shown his ability in the first team, and he is continuing to develop as a person and as a cricketer.

“We have a proud record of academy graduates and it’s great to add Saif to that list.”

Phil Rowe, head bowling coach, added: “We have seen his game grow recently from being a talented shot maker to building an innings.

He’s a hard worker and great lover of the game, it’s a pleasure having him here.”
