UPDATE | NORTHANTS V HAMPSHIRE

Northamptonshire and Hampshire are looking to make up for lost time on Tuesday after rain cut short the opening day's play in their two-day friendly at Windward CC in Barbados.

The County posted 166 for four in 52 overs on Monday - and Hampshire's reply stood at 4 without loss from 1.1 overs when the weather closed in again.

The aim is to play 105 overs on Tuesday to give some useful practice to both sides before Northamptonshire's squad flies back from the Caribbean to the less balmy temperatures at Wantage Road!

Max Holden again impressed with an unbeaten 58 from 103 balls including six boundaries, and then retired to allow team-mates time in the middle.

He and Rob Newton (41) gave the side a solid start, and although Rob Keogh missed out this time there were useful contributions from skipper Alex Wakely (34 not out) and Adam Rossington (25) - not to mention Gareth Wade's first run for the club!

Ben Sanderson sent down a tidy opening over as Hampshire went in later in the day, but just one ball into Muhammad Azharullah's second over of the innings the rain returned and nothing more could be done.
