ANOTHER DAY OF HANDY PRACTICE AT EDGBASTON

Northamptonshire's bowlers and batsmen enjoyed some more useful practice on the second day of their friendly against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Wednesday.

Resuming on 27 for two, the Bears reached 253-8 in 63 overs with a trio of seasoned campaigners - Ian Bell (64), Jonathan Trott (52) and Rikki Clarke (61) scoring the bulk of the runs.

Clarke's knock included half-a-dozen sixes but County seamers Ben Sanderson (11-6-13-2) and Steven Crook (5-1-16-2) both tasted success, while Chad Barrett, Nathan Buck, Rob Keogh and Saif Zaib picked up a wicket apiece.

Northamptonshire openers Max Holden and Rob Newton - unbeaten on 33 and 23 respectively - piloted the side to 56 without loss in the second innings before the weather closed in again.

Northamptonshire will start their three-day match against Loughborough MCCU at Wantage Road on Sunday April 2.
