DAY 4 REPORT | NCCC VS GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Northamptonshire’s Specsavers County Championship match with Gloucestershire was abandoned as a draw at Wantage Road with a second consecutive day lost to the weather.

Heavy rain began to fall from Monday evening and did not relent and with the ground soaking and the forecast still poor for the final afternoon, umpires Michael Gough and Ben Debenham decided there was no chance of play.

Northamptonshire take 11 points from the match and move back into third in the Division Two table, 15 points behind Worcestershire in second having played a game fewer, and just two points ahead of both Sussex and Kent who have, like Northants, played nine matches.

Gloucestershire take 10 points and are sixth in the table with five games to play following the remainder of the NatWest T20 Blast that resumes on Friday. Gloucestershire visit Sussex while Northants host Leicestershire.
