Duckett named most promising young cricketer of the year for 2016

After his hugely successful season in 2016, culminating in selection for England at both Test match and ODI level, Ben Duckett has been awarded the The Cricket Society’s Most Promising Young Cricketer of the Year award. This is the second time in the last four years that a Northamptonshire player has been the winner after David Willey’s success in 2013.

Normally the award is presented at The Cricket Society’s Autumn Dinner in London, but Ben was playing for England in Bangladesh at the time. Cricket Society Committee member and lifelong NCCC member, Tom Carmichael, presented the award at the County Ground on the 7th April.

In the words of its President, former Sussex skipper, John Barclay, The Cricket Society “aims to promote cricket in all its spheres- listening, reading, writing and playing.” To see previous winners and to find out more about the Cricket Society, including how to join, see http://cricketsociety.com
