BEN DUCKETT EXTENDS HIS CONTRACT WITH NCCC

Ben Duckett has today signed an extension to his contract which will see him remain at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club until the end of 2018.

Ben has been an integral part of the squad across all formats during the 2016 season, starting the year in the best possible way with 282 not out in the first Specsavers County Championship match against Sussex.

His batting success has continued throughout the year, much to the delight of Northamptonshire supporters. Ben played a vital role in the Steelbacks Finals Day campaign, his phenomenal batting display in the Semi Finals proving crucial in helping the Steelbacks lift the NatWest T20 Blast trophy for the second time in four years, a second Steelbacks T20 victory for Ben. Perhaps his most significant innings of the 2016 season was his 220 not out for the England Lions in a 50 over game against Sri Lanka A. His success this year has deservedly earned him an England call-up, and he will soon be departing for Bangladesh as part of both the Test and One Day International squads.

Commenting on his new contract, Ben said “The opportunities that I have had at Northamptonshire have enabled me to gain invaluable game time resulting in an amazing year for me. I intend to make the most of playing for my country which is a dream come true, but I’m looking forward to coming back to Wantage Road and building on Northamptonshire’s success.”

David Ripley, Head Coach, said “We are delighted that Ben has once again committed himself to Northamptonshire. It’s good to end the speculation about what his next move might be, but he is loyal and appreciates the experience he has gained here. We are all looking forward to watching Ben progress with the England team and to winning more silverware for his club next year and beyond."
