JOSH COBB SIGNS NEW THREE YEAR CONTRACT

Josh Cobb has signed a new three year deal with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. The all rounder has become a familiar face at the County Ground since he joined in at the beginning of 2014 from Leicestershire and no doubt the news of his continuing presence will delight supporters.

'Cobby', as he is affectionately known, has been a solid support to the squad in all formats. He has an influential presence in the dressing room and is well respected by his peers. In the One Day Cup he has broken the 300 runs mark in both seasons he has played at NCCC, averaging an impressive 40+ both years including six 50’s and one ton. In the T20 Competition, Cobb broke the 400 hundred run mark in his first season and will have the chance to do the same again at Edgbaston on Saturday as his total currently stands at 377.

Ray Payne, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire, spoke of his delight this morning "We are thrilled that Josh has chosen to continue on with us. He is a formidable player and a fantastic addition to our squad. This resigning further reinforces the clubs mission to develop and retain its young and talented players. I wish them all the very best for Finals Day."

On putting pen to paper, Josh said “I'm very happy to be remaining at Northamptonshire. I've had fun, enjoyed my cricket and played in some big games which is the primary reason I joined in the first place. We are an extremely strong side in the one day formats and the club’s ambitions to improve in the county championship are something I want to be a part of. It’s a great squad, with strong team spirit and I am really positive about our future.”

Northants' Head Coach, David Ripley, said “I’m delighted that Cobby has committed to a further three years with us. He plays an important role in the batting line up and his presence on the field is strong and reliable. He is growing as a player and I believe there is definitely more to come from him.”
