RECREATIONAL CRICKET

Recreational Cricket

Northants Recreational Cricket (formerly Northamptonshire Cricket Board) is responsible for the governance of all cricket outside of the professional game within Northamptonshire. This largely involves supporting cricket at grassroots level, whether that be in clubs, schools or in the community.

This remit encompasses:

| Working with adult leagues in the County and the ECB to deliver a local and national strategy for the recreational game

| Supporting clubs in developing their infrastructure with regards to facilities, volunteers and players

| Implementation of a comprehensive primary and secondary school delivery strategy aimed at transitioning children to long term participation in cricket

| Supporting programmes aimed at enabling those with disabilities to have full involvement in the game, whether that be in a playing or non-playing, mainstream or disability specific context

| The running of a wide range of Indoor and outdoor competitions for both schools and clubs

| Organisation of a wide ranging coach education programme aimed at training and developing new and existing coaches working in heterogeneous environments within the game

| Coordination and support of youth leagues and competitions within the County

| Maintenance of proper procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of children and others

| Support via the ECB Association of Cricket Officials the development of Umpiring and scoring

| Running community involvement schemes

In addition to this development focus, Northants Recreational Cricket also plays a role within performance cricket below professional level, which involves:

| Managing the Boys and Girls County Age Group programme

| Responsibility for the Steelettos, the Northamptonshire Women’s representative team

| Responsibility for Northamptonshire’s representative disability squads

| Running boys and girls Emerging Player Programmes, which identify and develop young players with the potential to play professional (boys) or international (girls) cricket
