Northamptonshire wicket keeper David Murphy has made the decision to retire from professional cricket. The 28-year-old is to leave Wantage Road at the end of the season in order to pursue a career outside of the game.

David Murphy has extended his contract with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club for a further year. The wicketkeeper has had a very respectable season, taking 33 catches in 11 county championships matches this season and has chipped in with some runs down the order – 335 to be exact.
