Here at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, we pride ourselves on being a club at the heart of the community. We work closely with a number of charities such as the Cube Disability throughout the year to raise as much money as possible so that they are able to carry out their vital work that helps so many of us in the local community. Charities can apply to have a bucket shake at one of our T20 matches, raising an average of £500 per match, or 50 Over matches.

CHARITY OF THE YEAR

We are delighted to be working with The Nigel Wagstaff Charity for the 2017 season. Founded in 2016, The Nigel Wagstaff charity supports local fundraising projects within the community. This year, the charity has chosen to focus on supporting the Gosset Ward at Northampton General Hospital. They will be raising money to buy a Giraffe (Omnibed) Incubator to replace the existing, less advanced, models that are currently at the hospital.

The Giraffe incubator has several additional features to benefit the babies without the need for further equipment. By having an incubator which can be multifunctional with built in phototherapy lamps, examination lamps, humidification and temperature control it reduces the need for other equipment around the baby, making it easier for the parent to be closer to their little one. The Giraffe Incubator also gives a consistent flow of warm air within the incubator which allows the roof to lift off without the temperature of the baby being disturbed, further enabling parents to be closer to their baby.

Their target is £37,000 so we will be looking forward helping them reach this target with various events held at The County Ground over the next year.

SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

Our players regularly participate in school visits in and around the local area. These provide children with the opportunity to interact with the players, gaining an insight into the life of a professional sportsman. We provide coaching sessions, player appearances and Q&A sessions for all age groups.

Aside from the cricket, the County Ground hosts classes independent to the club. Our personal trainer, Aaron Wiles is also independent to the club and uses our gym to train his personal clients.
