Corporate & Board Experience:

I currently manage a significant global credit portfolio for Mastercard. Previously I have also held a number of senior roles with Mastercard as well as Barclays & Citibank spending just short of 20 years in Finance. Within these roles I have developed significant strategy, finance, commercial, product & marketing skills & experience in both the UK but also globally. Prior to this I worked in commercial roles in the Franchising & Insurance industries.

As a result I have a rounded and deep skill-set that I believe would be of benefit in developing NCCC Holdings and the Club. This would include amongst other things a focus on strategic & financial planning & governance. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss in detail how some of my experience and networks may benefit the club. As well as Senior Management experience I sit on two Boards: Warwick Business School Board & as Trustee & Treasurer for Friends of Abington Park Charity (‘FoAPC’).

Focus on Community:

Research studies suggest that business can derive long term benefits from developing ownership from a local stakeholder & shareholder base. As such, the capital vehicle of NCCC Holdings marks a significant step in both the transformation of the financial position of NCCC but also the participation of supporters in its ownership and growth. In other sports, notably Football, there have been a number of failed attempts, as well as some successes, of sustaining the supporter owned model.

I would work with NCCC, supporters and community stakeholders to identify ways that a truly local, participatory capital structure can be built through NCCC Holdings learning from the mistakes in other sports and creating a model that works for cricket and specifically for NCCC. The financial challenges for cricket are significant for a number of reasons but I believe they are not insurmountable. The ECB aspiration to widen participation in the sport is an opportunity for NCCC and the Holding Company to become an even more important and visible asset for Northamptonshire. However, this will require a strong plan and determined execution in the next few years. This can be significantly enhanced by growth in participation and ultimately investment from a wider supporter base.

I have a deep commitment to the community in which my family live. I am a Founding Trustee of FoAPC which has been established to preserve the Abington Park estate for the benefit of the people of Northampton, as was enshrined in the original gift from The Wantage Family. As the centralised funding of parks in Northamptonshire becomes more uncertain it is has become critical to build innovative business models if such assets are to be preserved for future generations. The changes taking place in County Cricket’s business model will require close scrutiny of the critical ECB funding source for the ‘non-franchised’ Counties. Even with a good settlement, I believe NCCC will only develop to its full potential if it is underpinned by a sustainable local supporter & capital base. The current ad hoc support from local Government is most likely to be challenged making substitution by a direct supporter and community model even more important. To make this successful it will be important to deliver wide community participation in both the club and ultimately the capital vehicle. Although the initial capital raising was very successful I believe that there is a lot more to be done I would like to help the club in this objective.

Collaboration with Warwick Business School

I have had a long & deep relationship with Warwick Business School (‘WBS’) beginning in 2002. I am a graduate of the School, have been appointed as an Associate Fellow of the University of Warwick and sit as a WBS Board Member. I founded & Co-Chair the Warwick Finance Network based in WBS’s London Campus in The Shard and am currently working with the School to build an Innovation Centre on the Coventry Campus. I am confident that there a number of ways that both NCCC and the Holding Company could collaborate positively with WBS to identify & execute innovative developments in a number of strategic, marketing, financial & operational areas. Due to my close working links I would seek to broker this collaboration in order that both parties can derive mutual value.

Supporter Profile:

I am a passionate supporter ofNorthants, I was a junior members in the 80's. However due to work I've lived in Nottingham since 1993. I have always proudly supported the Tudor Rose. I recently (Dec 17) moved back to Northampton with the intention of spending the summer months at Wantage Road. I am a Life Member as well as a shareholder and I am keen to help ensure Northants first class status is maintained when the ECB's franchise T20 model in launched.

Cricketing Background:

My cricketing skills never achieved higher then social. Whilst in Nottingham I regularly played village cricket and also played indoor cricket 2-3 times a week in both Nottingham and Derby. In my indoor team I was the weakest link in a team which included a couple of then Notts academy lads and future Northants players, Dave Lucas and Bilal Shafayat. I would often play against some Notts & Derby players, my claim to fame was getting Usmal Afzzal caught at slip and hitting Kim Barnett for six (he bowled me next ball!).

Work Background:

I have a background in finance and more recently in web development. In 1993, I moved to Nottingham to work for Mansfield Brewery as a Management Accountant (CIMA qualified). In my time at the brewery I had a variety of roles, reporting directly to the Chairman, Finance, Commercial, Production and Properties Directors. I prepared financial appraisals for pub acquisitions, beer production and transport & distribution costings and also the accountant responsible for evaluating a loan book of approx £35 million worth of free trade loans to circa 1000 pubs. I was also involved in Mansfield's purchase of several McManus pubs in Northampton in the mid-90's. In 2000, I was made redundant when Wolverhampton & Dudley (now rebranded as Marston's) bought Mansfield. I am still in contact with my former brewery directors and they will be able to vouch for my finance and analytical skills.

Following redundancy I retrained as web developer and have been self employed as freelance web developer (www.webalert.info) for the last 18 years. Within my web development role I have focused on database management, creating a bespoke content management system with the emphasis on search engine optimisation. I take pride in creating a business partner relationship with my site owners rather then a simple customer/client one.

Whilst this is probably outside the role required, over the years I have gained a significant knowledge in web server management and I would be able to offer quite a lot of web hosting/development advice to help run the clubs website.

Availability: to attend meetings I sub-committees

I would be available to attend meetings pretty much most of the time. As I'm self employed I don't have any fixed work time-slots, plus I now live within 15 minutes walking distance to ground. I've envisaged that I would need to be available to attend both Board meetings as well having meetings with members so that I can get their views and give them feedback from Board meetings. I would plan on creating a members / shareholders ebulletin to help streamline the communications between myself and the members. I would also look to set-up some online surveys to get a broader view of members opinion as & when matters that arise over time.

I am retired and live in Milton Keynes with my wife Barbara. I have been a life member of Northamptonshire C.C.C. for a number of years and am a full member of M.C.C.

I played cricket in the Northants County League for 10 seasons and continued to play until 55 with Milton Keynes Cricket Club where I have been Chairman and am now President.

My working life was in the Motor Industry and my employer for the last 30 years was one of Europe's largest vehicle manufacturers where I held a number of senior management roles. Initially I worked within the Company's wholly owned dealership group managing dealerships in several U.K cities finally running the brand's largest location. There I was responsible for every aspect of the business which had an annual turnover of £90 million and a staff of 170. I was promoted from this to take responsibility for 20 of the Company's owned dealerships and finally became a director of the U.K Company.

As a director I was responsible for the performance of 120 owned and franchised dealerships in Southern England and this role gave me a great insight into the differing levels of performance in sales, profitability, financial wellbeing and customer care. My role was to deliver the best possible levels of performance by focusing on commercial activity, investment and customer service.

I believe this background gives me good skills to contribute as a representative for shareholders of NCCC Holdings Ltd.
