Northamptonshire Frustrated on Rain Affected Day

Northamptonshire's bowlers were left frustrated as they claimed just one wicket on heavily rain-shortened third day at Bristol.

Despite pleasant overhead conditions, it took until 3pm for play to get underway for the first time since just after lunch on Day 1. A series of waterlogged, muddy patches around the outfield gave the umpires cause for concern and kept the players in the dressing rooms.

With an early lunch and tea both called, play finally got underway as conditions remained clear. Northamptonshire couldn't continue the devastating form they showed on the first morning however, Gloucestershire accumulating a total on a track offering little assistance for the bowlers.

van Buuren and Charlesworth took the Gloucestershire total past 200 in a partnership worth more than 150 before Berg struck. Having beaten the bat a number of times on Day 3 Berg finally found the edge as van Buuren offered Rossington the simplest of chances to depart for 93. With 1 over left in the day the umpires decided light had deteriorated and took the players from the field.

Gloucestershire 220/7 (Sanderson 2/33, Berg 2/35)
