ROSSINGTON DELIGHTED TO BE BACK IN ACTION

Adam Rossington enjoyed his return to action in the Specsavers County Championship win over Durham this week.

The wicketkeeper shrugged off a frustrating couple of months by taking three catches across Durham’s two innings and scoring 47 runs that helped Northamptonshire to a crucial 69-run first innings lead that set up the victory.

Rossington missed the entire Vitality Blast campaign with an untimely broken thumb, but returned to action in club cricket a week last Saturday before seeing time on the field as a sub in the home match against Middlesex, then in the 2nd XI clash at home to Warwickshire.

And he says that the win over Durham at the Riverside can be a catalyst for a good September in the Specsavers County Championship.

“Great to be back playing with the lads again after a couple of months out,” he said. “The bowlers got us into a great position in the game and it was nice to contribute a few runs.

“Hopefully we can build on this performance next week at Kent.”
