The Winter Food Festival returns to the County Ground

Northampton Winter Food Festival returns to The County Ground in November with a host of gastronomic treats.

Amid the host of new attractions are free gin tasting sessions hosted by Northamptonshire’s award-winning artisan gin makers, Warner Edwards.

The sessions will run twice a day on both days of the festival and if you’re lucky you might even get a taste of their latest creation – Honeybee gin, made with Northamptonshire honey.

Also new for the show, which takes place on November 11 and 12, are the 185 Watling Street Cocktail Masterclasses. Participants can learn to shake like a pro whilst sipping one of their own freshly-made cocktails.

Another new addition is an Indian cookery school run by Anita Chipalkatty, from Hobby Cooks in Northampton, where you can learn how to make two classic street food dishes from the sub-continent.

Crispin Slee, the festival’s founder, said: “Excuse the pun, but we were bowled over by the reaction to the festival last year, our first year.

“So many people came and had a great time. Lots and lots of them told us how much they had enjoyed it and asked us for a repeat performance this year.

“Well, we hope we’ve gone one better and that this year’s show has even more to offer than last year.”

There will be over 80 food, drink and foodie gift stalls at this year’s Northampton Winter Food Festival with a street food market around the boundary edge.

As well as a full line-up of chef demonstrations, there will a series of free foodie talks, free wine and gin tastings sessions and a cookery school for kids and adults.

Crispin added: “One difference people will notice is that the large marquee is no longer on the outfield. This year we have moved it to the other side of the ground so if you’re coming make sure you find both of the food and drink halls.”

Northampton Winter Food Festival is a celebration of artisan produce and takes place at The County Cricket Ground on November 11 and 12. There is free parking on Abington Park. Adult tickets are £6 in advance of £8 on the day. Children over ten years are £3.
