MURPHY OUT WITH BACK INJURY

David Murphy has suffered a lower back injury which will see him miss a large chunk of the season.

Northamptonshire’s Head Coach, David Ripley explained, “Murph has battled his back issue for some time and now surgery is necessary which is a great shame.

“He has contributed a great deal to the squad in many different roles and I look forward to him making a speedy recovery and getting back into the squad as soon as possible.

The Wicketkeeper batsman, understandably disappointed at the news, is keen to ensure his fitness is back to 100% before pushing for his place back in the squad.

“Despite putting a lot of work in over preseason, once the season started, things began to deteriorate slightly and I’ve just not been able to play.

“I had an operation last week to repair the disc, which went very well. My focus now is getting fit again.

“I’m excited about the prospect of getting back in the team and ultimately help the club push for promotion in the County Championship.”

We wish him a speedy recovery.
